Habit Lifestyle Medicine Collaborates with NexJ Health to Support First Responders and Essential Workers
Toronto — May 12, 2022 — NexJ Health Inc. (NexJ Health), a provider of advanced virtual care solutions for mental wellness and polychronic disease management, is pleased to announce that Habit Lifestyle Medicine has implemented NexJ Connected Wellness to deliver a multidisciplinary lifestyle medicine program to support first responders and essential workers across Canada with weight loss, nutrition, fitness and lifestyle optimization.
Habit Lifestyle Medicine is using NexJ Connected Wellness to deliver the Optimal Health Program which enables their full spectrum of lifestyle medicine to participants digitally, to decrease barriers of accessibility and distance. Optimal Health begins with a comprehensive assessment, which includes a complete review of medical history and health risk factors. The Habit Lifestyle Medicine team, including a Nurse Practitioner, Nutritionist, Sleep Coach, Personal Fitness Trainer, and Health Coach, carry out the lifestyle and nutritional assessment, fitness testing, and health coaching. The use of NexJ Connected Wellness in the Optimal Health Program improves the participant’s ability to share information, coordinate their care across their Habit care team, and receive personalized educational content to learn more about their conditions, medications, and treatments. Participants also track their behaviors, biometrics, and psychometrics to monitor their health and wellness.
The increase in chronic disease prevalence and associated health care spending globally is unsustainable. Chronic conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cancer are among the most common and costly of all health conditions—but they are also largely preventable.1 Lifestyle medicine focuses on the health behaviors that give rise to these diseases. When implemented, lifestyle medicine can prevent, treat, and even reverse some of these conditions. Through NexJ Connected Wellness, the Optimal Health Program assists participants in six critical areas of optimal health: Nutrition, Energizing Activity and Exercise, Restorative Sleep, Emotional Resilience, Meaningful Connections, and Vision and Purpose.
“We’re very pleased to collaborate with NexJ Health to support our scaling efforts and improve health coaching efficiency at Habit Lifestyle Medicine,” said Lorne Friesen, Co-founder and CEO of Habit Lifestyle Medicine. “We believe that with NexJ Connected Wellness, participants will be better equipped to make sustainable improvements to their health and wellbeing with the support of our team of health care professionals.”
The Optimal Health Program on NexJ Connected Wellness provides participants with a personalized nutrition plan and fitness plan, sleep coaching sessions from Habit’s healthcare professionals, and regular follow-ups with a physician or nurse practitioner to address health concerns or risks. The program employs evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches with the aim of preventing and managing chronic disease, while improving patient satisfaction and health outcomes.
“NexJ Health is pleased to be working with Habit Lifestyle Medicine to provide NexJ Connected Wellness as the virtual care platform of choice for their Optimal Health Program,” said Daniela Liggio, President at NexJ Health. “First responders and essential workers will be able to receive personalized care from their Habit care team, and also engage with the tools on the platform to get their health back on track – and keep it there.”
The Optimal Health Program on NexJ Connected Wellness aims to promote positive health behavior change and support participants throughout their health journey to achieve their health goals and improve patient outcomes.
