Industry luminaries Richard Alvarez and Tom Closson appointed to guide further commercialization of NexJ Connected Wellness

Toronto, ON (November 11, 2014) — NexJ Health, a division of NexJ Systems Inc. (TSX: NXJ), a provider people-centered solutions for healthcare, today announced its new Healthcare Advisory Board. Richard Alvarez, former President and CEO of Canada Health Infoway, has been appointed Chair and Tom Closson, former President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association and University Health Network, is a charter member.

The Advisory Board will help guide NexJ Health deliver NexJ Connected WellnessNexJ Health Pro and NexJ Health Coach to market. The advisory board’s role will include making recommendations on product and market positioning and facilitating healthcare industry relationships.

Mr. Alvarez has helped to position Canada as a world leader in health care innovation and renewal by harnessing the power of information. As President and CEO of Canada Health Infoway, he was a catalyst for accelerating the development of electronic health records in Canada. Mr. Alvarez was also President and CEO of the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).  He has received awards for leadership from the Canadian College of Health Leaders and Canada’s health informatics organization called COACH.

He also has extensive experience as a consultant and in government. He has received various career awards including an Engineering Medal for Management from Professional Engineers Ontario, induction into the Engineering Hall of Distinction of Uof T Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering and Outstanding Public Contribution Award from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto
