Technology for Doctors – Digital care plans can be accessed by patients, after their visits

Most patients with chronic diseases or complicated conditions only receive verbal instructions about their care from their doctors, which often leaves patients confused and unsure about next steps. At the Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a project is afoot to demonstrate that written, detailed and shareable electronic care plans boost outcomes. The centre is developing a new kind of patient portal with the help of software provided by Toronto-based NexJ Systems.
